Walls of Freedom
Using traditional Arabic calligraphy in a style he calls calligraffiti, eL Seed uses his art as a tool of political expression. During Arab Spring, many graffiti artists painted to empower the revolution in an act of creative resistance. Using quotes from inspirational leaders and writers, he creates murals, artworks, and sculptures that express emotion. In “Walls of Freedom” the calligraphy is translated as “Liberty Square,” referencing the protests in Tahrir Square, Cairo.
