Safwat Abbas Fahmy

Egyptian Artist, Safwat Abbas Fahmy (1931- 2014) lived during the periods of resistance to the English occupation of Egypt and the rise of the national movement and used his work to express suffering and loss of his people. From the highly acclaimed solo exhibition at the Cairo Atelier in 2000, Al – Sharq Al – Awsat Newspaper dubbed him one of the” most important Egyptian artists”. In the book of Tasr Alkhater paintings, Dr. Naeem Attieh writes “Safwat has shrouded his pieces in an ambiguity that suggests rather than articulates, what resonates with the heart, the eye, and the mind all at once.”
