Egyptian abstract artist Naima Shishini (1929- 2018) received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alexandria and her PhD in the History of Art from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. She taught in universities in Egypt, Turkey, Spain, and the Netherlands and has exhibited internationally in former Yugoslavia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Jordan, Austria, India, Uzbekistan. An advocate for social change, her work was shown in an internationally touring exhibition “Breaking the veils. Women artists in the Islamic world.”
